Happy 14th Birthday!

Happy 14th birthday to VGR! We are one year closer to becoming adult British homos with small dicks who can’t get any!

First, the good stuff. Today’s birthday gift in honor of us all is a new recap from Sam of a new game — Kingdom Hearts II Part 1! It’s thematically appropriate for the site’s birthday, given that it is packed to the gills with 14-year-old boys. You’re welcome!

Although I haven’t made a ton of progress on the site update in the last year (as I predicted, since I am a wizard), I want to say thank you to Sam for doing the heavy lifting in terms of content. Your recaps continue to be fantastic and just the right level of disturbing. Thank you also to Ben — I am glad you are still alive and contributing hilarious recaps to the site.

As always, thank you to all the readers and commenters. Without you guys, we’re just three people writing up perverted video game commentary as a personal hobby. But your enjoyment of the recaps makes us slightly more legit and less creepy. Seriously, though, thanks for your support!

Happy birthday to VGR! Without some kind of magical time machine, it is now impossible for us to be 12-year-old British homos who whack off too much and can’t get any. I guess we are now 13-year-old British homos who whack off too much and can’t get any!

Obviously the big news is that the new site is, um, mostly done. It is completely transferred over to WordPress and is no longer made up of crusty old table-based HTML. The current design isn’t intended to be permanent — which means I’ll probably get around to an actual redesign in another decade — but it should at least be readable. I transferred all existing user accounts and comments over as well, so you shouldn’t have to change anything. I did a ton of work on the back end. That’s what Phoenix said. Anyway, the new site is a work in progress (it’s a beta!), so stay tuned, even if it takes me another couple of decades to finish it.

In other awesome news, Sam has completed the first two recaps for Xenosaga II!

A few quick updates

Hello, everyone. I’m just writing a quick post to let you know a few things that are going on.

I mentioned something way back in the site anniversary update about a super awesome plan for this coming year, which is technically not over until 2/17/2014. So I still have a couple of months! The plan is to completely update the site, getting rid of the old shitty HTML, and converting everything over to WordPress. This will make it much, much easier to maintain. But it’s going to take a long time to do all the WordPress coding, site design, and recap conversion.

I’m currently working on the next Phoenix Wright recap, which is about 80% done. I’m hoping to finish it by Christmas. Once I post it, I’m going to concentrate on the site update for a while. So that I’m not totally slacking on actual content during that time, I’ve decided to revive the Recapper Roleplay posts, which are way less time consuming than the crazy long recaps I normally write. I know Oblivion is super old now — even Skyrim is two years old! — but I actually think the various guild quests are more entertaining in Oblivion than in Skyrim so I want to continue it. Maybe I will recapper roleplay both! No promises.

Finally, I am going to update WordPress to the latest version. Hopefully I won’t ruin everything! Update: Done!

Forum shutdown

Since the forums have been inactive for a long time, I’ve decided to shut them down. The server host is disabling all older databases next week, so I figured this is as good a time as any to officially archive them. I have the forums backed up, so nothing is really lost.

Database and WordPress updates in progress

I need to upgrade the site database as well as the WordPress installation. This is just a heads-up in case I screw something up. In which case you might not even be able to see this page. Crap!

Update: Everything should be done and hopefully working again. Please let me know if you notice anything strange with the site or the blog, apart from the stuff that is strange on purpose.
