Suikoden II parts 19 and 20

What’s up everybody! It took me a while–what can I say, 2018 has sucked, and especially lately!–but I’m back with the (sob) final two installments of the Suikoden II recap. I’m in my feelings about it and probably will be for some time, but I hope you all enjoy! (I should be back with something before the new year, but I have to do some recording, so we’ll see.)

Damn, it feels like the end of an era. I’ll admit, I’m kinda sad to see this recap end (it being one of the first ones I read on the old site).

You’re not alone there! Given the nature of the series, I don’t even have a sequel to jump into like some others we’ve finished. It feels bad man!

It’s the melancholic end of an era. This was an amazing send off, but I will definitely miss all the soapy relationship drama, exacting punctuation analysis, and fist shaking at the translation. Luckily, we still have Suiko 3 and 4 to fulfill some of those needs for now. Your recaps of this game were truly a masterpiece!

P.S. Bear+++ just makes me giggle uncontrollably all the time for some reason.

I have never wished more for a shoutout than an ancient Flik in Suikoden III with a sword renamed Viktor+++. Instead we get EDGE. Pass.

      (And thank you! :D)

Much of Suikoden 3 was a hard pass for me, including Edge, the trinity system, the epilogue, Sarah (perhaps the worst female character in Suikoden canon? You decide!), and the lack of certain namesay characters (there was an incomplete fanfic about Gremio going after the Beast Rune so he would have immortality to stay forever with PUGGY!; Viktor had it from the Star Dragon Sword so Flik was going to find one at the Warrior’s Village or something). I did beat the game but it’s my least favorite of the series.

Thank you for all your years of hard work on this recap! (and so many others <3) Suikoden II is one of my favorite RPGs too- my mom bought it for me as a gift while I was in high school (that being in its often $200+ pricing on Ebay).
