This was epic, Sam. Especially the captions and the bios for the “new” characters. I always forget exactly how cliche pretty much every Working Designs game plot was (although, looking at all the Growlansers they brought over, they did have an eye for games with epically gay protagonists), but it is nice to be reminded of that fact and also how lame their attempts at humor were. However, there were some key moments I would like to highlight:
“Oh my God. I just realized Alex and Laike are on a date, and Laike has orchestrated this elaborate couple activity just for them! It all makes sense. He is probably slipping the top hat hedgehogs a fiver every time he gets to see Alex’s Explosion Staff. And they’re not going to see some dickhead named Myght at all. They’re going to reach the top and find a bed covered in rose petals and a pair of furry red handcuffs to match the Blue Dragon Earflap Hat (which Alex will have to leave on). Then they will ravage each other.
Fucking finally, Alex and Laike reach the top, and to my dismay, there is in fact a dickhead named Myght here, and not a cabinet full of lube and dildos shaped like the Sword of Althena. Filing this away for a fanfic, then.”
I thought this was the summary for your fanfic on adultfanfiction.net. Also, Fartnoise as a character nickname was just GOLD. I startled pre-giggles every time I knew the names was coming up.

I also loved your Dear Abby for video game characters in dysfunctional relationships–now I need to see KOS-MOS’, Marvy’s (Suikoden IV), and Barry’s (Suikoden II) versions.
Speaking of Suikoden II, I just really liked the following. Interlinks for the win:
“Alex yells out her name again–even as the ocarina is still playing in the background, and a big ol’ whatever to that–and Gams spits out this fucking garbage: “… … … A……le……x……It’s you, Ale x…” Even Suikoden II would not do that to me. The random spaces! What the fuck is that!”
Finally, I feel your theory on Dragonmaster genesis is worth further discussion:
“Wait, I’m on the wrong track. If we are to believe that the dragon trials are all consistent with one another, and the Blue Dragon’s trial required the potential Dragonmaster to be in love with someone, and the Black Dragon doesn’t want any chicks accompanying the Alex to his pad, that means the dragons want the Dragonmaster to be a gay man. Nice.”
I am going to introduce my theory on Dyne here (fanwanking imminent): Dyne and Ghaleon clearly were in a dysfunctional relationship (probably the gay version of Jessica and Kyle). My theory is that Ghaleon’s entire plot comes from the fact that Athena decided to allow them to have a kid by rebirthing herself and Dyne went and gave away the kid to some hic he knew as a kid (Alex’s dad) and this entire scheme is a prolonged adult relationship tantrum to get back at Dyne for a) giving away the kid to his old frat buddy b) giving up his super cool powers and dragonmaster cosplay suit and c) making him spend all that time with Lemia. Just think what Lunar could have been: a visual novel called “The Raising of Gams” with two gay dads. (fanwanking ends).

I’m sensing a theme here.
The wait was worth it. I love Lunar (Lunar 2 moreso), but holy hell, it’s a corny-ass game. And between the storyline/fanservice and the WD translation, it was like every cliché about Japan and America making horrible disastrous love. The “can of grapefruit soda in a blue wig” line alone was priceless, too.
…And I freely admit I kinda wanted to bang Tempest back when I first played the game. It’s the braids. I don’t care if he has Alex’s face, the Heidi hair is sexy.

You flatter me, Sam. I also have a weird AU fanfic version in my head about this situation actually occurring. I will say this partly developed from playing the PSP remake, which really sets this up with the beginning extra prologue scene. But thank you. I look forward to your spin on it!
I will also add that Ghaleon is (SPOLIER!) probably not very keen on the whole lumberjack look, either. He has standards, don’t you know.
