We’ve added another game to the site — Persona 4, which Ben will be recapping. Part 1 is now up, and it’s a long one. Awwwwww yeah.

    Dunno about anyone else, but when I truly enjoy VGR, is when they recap games I have played ‘forehand. Man, thanks for the hard work!

    Now I need to actually play it so I can follow along better.

    Still, my favorite line(s) were the following:

    “Gary suddenly realizes that the only way this day could possibly get any worse for him would be for Yosuke to announce his heterosexuality, followed by Chie and Yukiko suddenly appearing and putting on a lesbian floor-show to the sound of Nanako singing the Walmart jingle into a megaphone.”

    Glad you all seem to be enjoying it! 😀

    For what it’s worth, Persona 4 is my favourite RPG released in the past few years, and appropriately, this is probably the recap I’ve most enjoyed writing. Part 2 coming (hopefully) soon.

    I’m enjoying the hell out of this recap so far, and totally looking forward to playing the game myself so I can follow along. I especially like the observations like this one:

    We get a quick anime scene where Shadow Yosuke transforms into a rather interesting monster. For those of you who may still be in denial, screaming “B-but Yosuke is straight! He loved Taylor-senpai!” in indignation, allow me to draw your attention to the fact that Yosuke’s Shadow — which represents an aspect of his personality he attempts to hide away — has taken the form of a figure on all fours, wearing an enormous grin as another male figure mounts him from behind and bounces around on top of him. Hey, I’m just pointing out what’s there on the screen.

    So great.

    I looked at the sidebar image for the game and knew I had to read it, just to find out why there was a penis in this game. I’m sure the question will be answered within an hour of the game.

    Cat: That would be Mara, one of the higher-level personae in the game. It’s a staple of the SMT series since, uhh… I want to say Shin Megami Tensei II?

    But yes, I fully expect that Mara in all his impressively penisy glory will become Gary’s favorite. :3

    I mean, yes, it’s definitely male since it’s a wang, but with the name ‘Mara’ I definitely headed more towards female.

    I think this game revived more excitement for the site. Can’t blame anyone. This game is absolutely hillarious and fun. My only complaint is (and maybe it’s because I don’t know better) I wish that Teddie would be able to tell you what enemies are weak to without having to find out for yourself. Anyway, I can’t wait to read more of Gary’s gay adventures. You picked a good butt buddy.

    Oh man, Persona 4. That opening was like at least 2 hours of text and cutscenes before heading into a real battle. I’m not surprised this recap is HUGE. Still, it’s a phenomenal game. And if you thought anything about Persona 3 or 4 was weird, Persona 2: Innocent Sin literally had me hold back my PSP for a second and go “wait, did that REALLY just happen?”
